The first time I've ever heard this, I was sort of speechless. I didn't know how and what to react with the said phrase, but one thing's for sure, I definitely remembered what I felt.
As a HUMSS student, I felt degraded and (unfortunately) judged by people who's not fully aware of what does it really takes to be a HUMSS student.

The picture shown is part of a said article talking about a teacher, dissing the HUMSS students during a review class. After reading the article about some people criticizing the Humanities and Social Sciences track and them implying that it's not that important compared to other tracks, I had the urged to speak up for my fellow track-mates and of course for myself.
We, HUMSS students, don't deserve to labelled as some students who won't earn enough living in the future, students who just studies politics and history, students who are not good at dealing with subjects such as math and science, students who won't have stable careers for the following years and other negative statements, because first of all,Humanities and Social Sciences, have something more to offer especially with future caree. Second, little do some people know, under HUMSS, a lot can be benefited too like with the other academic tracks. And lastly, you won't be alive today it weren't for Humanities and Social Sciences.

What can we benefit from these Social Sciences?
- Without these social sciences, people wouldn't be aware of the human condition.

- It helps us to be socially aware with what's happening around us and with us being socially aware, we can also raise awareness too others on our own.
- It helps us to speak up for ourselves and to have good and effective communication skills.
- HUMSS can also help us to excel and improve our writing skills with having proper grammar and better comprehension of deep vocabulary.
- We learn how to be critical-thinkers.
- It also gives better understanding of self and others.
- By knowing and being aware of the issues, we can make solutions and help improve the world.
- Lastly, we can decide things on our own, work alone, or in short, be an independent person.
There are a lot of other benefits that we can gain in learning Humanities and Social Sciences. These are just some it but I do hope that people will realize soon the importance of HUMSS. Imagine living a world without these disciplines and ideas in social science, for sure things would never be the same.
I also believe that students who are under the HUMSS track will still have stable careers in the future especially if the career that they will choose is inline with the choice of their own. It's hard to have a stable career if you, yourself, is not interested with the career that you will take in the future, just because your parents decided for you.
